If possible, pull over to the side of the road and get out of harm’s way. Dial 9-1-1 if necessary, especially if anyone is injured. Secure all the other parties’ information such as a driver’s license number and license plate information. Take photos of the accident scene, including damage to any vehicles and property involved. Record the location, time, and condition of the accident, such as the weather, traffic, and any other pertinent information.

Report any stolen vehicle to the police and us as soon as you can. Note where the vehicle was parked, and if there is any evidence of trespassing/forced entry (broken garage windows, tire marks, footprints, and any other pertinent information).

A deductible is a key feature of many types of insurance coverage. It is the amount of money you pay out of your own pocket toward a covered claim. You’ll typically find deductibles for certain coverages on the Coverage Selections Page of your policy documents.

If your policy includes coverage for Substitute Transportation, we will reimburse you for costs associated with renting a car while your vehicle is undrivable and/or being repaired, up to the daily limits on your policy. This includes any alternative form of transportation, such as public transit, taxis, and ride sharing. Please retain any receipts from alternative forms of transit.

Yes, it is particularly important for N&D to document all the damages sustained in your loss. We have highly responsive appraisers and a mobile N&D Automated Claims Vehicles team that will help you with this process.

We maintain a list of body shops that we can recommend, however you do not need to have your vehicle repaired at one of these shops. You can have your vehicle repaired at a properly licensed body shop of your choice. A list of all licensed Massachusetts shops a well as N&D referral body shops can be found here

Windshield repair is usually a quick job that can be done in under a couple of hours at whatever location is convenient for you. Call N&D if your vehicle has any glass that needs repair or replacement resulting from a covered loss and we will be happy to assist you.

Home

Take reasonable measures to preserve any undamaged property, if safe to do so. Take any photos that may help document damage. Save any receipts you have for emergency repairs. If possible, N&D will supply our self-inspection tool, an uncomplicated way to supply the information needed for a fast appraisal.

If you need emergency repairs to your home, take photos of the damaged property prior to any repairs being made. After you have taken photos, take the steps needed to prevent further damage from occurring. Should you need help with finding a mitigation/repair company, N&D has partnered with Alacrity Solutions to help streamline emergency services and manage repairs. Please contact N&D should you wish to use Alacrity’s services.

A deductible is a key feature of many types of insurance coverage. Is it the amount of money you pay out of your own pocket toward a covered claim. You’ll typically find deductibles for certain coverages on the Coverage Selections Page of your policy documents.

If you need to temporarily relocate while your home is being repaired or reconstructed, your policy’s Additional Living Expense coverage will pay for expenses related to temporary living arrangements. Depending on the loss, covered expenses may include hotel rooms, restaurant bills, and pet boarding costs. Please discuss this coverage with our claims team for details.

If you have been a victim of a crime, report the incident to the police at once. Take photos of any forced entry and complete an inventory of missing/damaged items. Supply any secured surveillance video of the theft (for example: a security camera, Ring Doorbell) to the police and your N&D Group examiner. Be sure to note if any important documents with personal identifiable information (PII) have been stolen. Notify your credit card companies, banks, and other related institutions if any personal financial documents or payment methods have been compromised. You may wish to lock your credit if you believe any PII has been compromised.

If you discover further damage resulting from a peril for which a claim was previously made and settled, please notify your claims adjuster at once. A reinspection by the adjuster may be needed to confirm the additional damages and the cause of said damage.

Catastrophic

Depending on the type of emergency, such as a hurricane, fire, tornado, or earthquake, you may have months to plan for a disaster or you may only have minutes. No matter what, it is smart to have a secure, central location known by all household members for information, including evacuation routes, important contact information, medical notes (such as allergies, dietary needs, prescriptions, and equipment), as well as shelter or alternative meeting options. A disaster preparedness kit will help you assemble the essentials you may need to survive outside of your home for several days. Important supplies include back-up cell phone batteries, simple tools, a first aid kit, extra prescription drugs, and water filters. To learn more about preparing for a disaster, you can visit FEMA’s Ready.gov website.

If you have any damages following a disaster, first reach out to your local emergency management team. Local officials can help arrange any assistance you may need. Be sure to document all your damages before you begin the clean-up process. Take photos of the aftermath and make a list of any damaged or missing property. Please notify N&D as soon as you can.

In the event of a catastrophic event, we will streamline our claims procedures so we can effectively handle the high volume of first notices of loss, however we will still need basic information from you to begin the claims process. A list of damaged or destroyed items, photos of damage, as well as descriptions of what happened will be extremely helpful. Our Automated Claims Vehicles team will be deployed to the scene of the disaster to supply responsive, in-person claims service to our policyholders.

If your building needs emergency repairs, such as window replacement, water damage remediation, or fire restoration, take photos of any damage and keep any receipts you get from the repair company. Your claims examiner can help you in remediation.
